Rotaract Club of University of Peradeniya

Rotaract is all about bonding. Hanthana Handawa is one of the most awaited events of Rotaract Club of University of Peradeniya. It was held on 28 th December 2019 at the Animal Science mini theatre of Faculty of Agriculture.  From the oldest members to the newest member of the Rotaract family of University of Peradeniya gets a chance to get to refresh the bonds and make new friends. Howl-O-Ween '19 (a Halloween party) concluded on 2nd of November at the Earl's Regent Hotel Kandy with great success. The event was mainly focused on fundraising for the club and was filled with several entertainment items to brighten up the night.   The invitees, friends of Rotaract and Interact, past members of the club graced the occasion. It was filled with tasty food, fun events and spooky face paintings. The 14th Installation Ceremony was held on 27 th October 2019 with great success. At the Appadurai Auditorium, Faculty of Agriculture. Commencement of the ceremony was marked by lighting the traditional oil lamp by the dignitaries and invitees. Honourable Chief Guest- Professor Upul B. Dissanayake, the Vice-Chancellor of University of Peradeniya, Guest of Honour-Rtn PHF K. Wigneswaran, President of the Rotary Club of Kandy, Rtn PHF Avanthi Karunaratne- Youth Service Chair, Rtn. IPP Ranjith Gunathilake- Zonal Coordinator, Rtn PHF PP John Baskaran , Senior Treasurer of the club Dr B.M.K. Pemasiri, Rotarians, Rotaractors and interactors and all the distinguished guests graced the occasion. Opening Ceremony The opening ceremony of the series of G.C.E. Ordinary Level seminars was held at the Pelawa Maha Vidyalaya, Muruthalawa on 28th of September 2019. Helping the students with Maths and Science took place and our Rotaractors volunteered for creating model papers, marking and discussing them with the students. This project was successfully held over four consecutive weekends. This project was geared by a chess camp for the students in the school, and it was a great success as the majority of the students participated in the chess camp with great enthusiasm. World Children’s day celebration was taken place at the Keppetipola Vidyalaya-Kandy on 11 th  October 2019. The event consisted of motivational sessions, entertainment items and fun games. Tree planting campaign also took place where students were grouped and were given a plant to take care for the rest of their school days. Another project commemorating the Elders Day happened on 6 th of October at the Sarana Sevana Elders Home- Mawilmada, which is supervised by the Kandy Buddhist Association. Rotaractors spent a memorable day with the elders with a music session, entertainment items and also conducted a tree planting campaign. At the end of the event, dry rations and necessary supplements for the elders were donated by the Rotaractors. Click here for more photos

Three Rotaractors, representing the Rotaract Club of Dombivil- RID 3142 from India visited Sri Lanka as a part of the ICYE (Inter Club Youth Exchange) programme.
