Sathkara Elders' Day Celebration

Another project commemorating the Elders Day happened on 6th of October at the Sarana Sevana Elders Home- Mawilmada, which is supervised by the Kandy Buddhist Association. Rotaractors spent a memorable day with the elders with a music session, entertainment items and also conducted a tree planting campaign. At the end of the event, dry rations and necessary supplements for the elders were donated by the Rotaractors.

A Brief History of the Club

         The Rotaract Club of University of Peradeniya is one of the most prestigious Rotaract Clubs in the RI District 3220. The club was chartered in 2002 and after a short period of silence, sprang up to work in 2006. The Charter President of the club is Rtr. PP Pathum Mudannayake who was an undergraduate from the Faculty of Science. He and his committee have done a great deal to raise the club to higher levels in the district. The 44th U. S. President Barack Obama once said: "No challenge poses a greater threat to future generations than climate change."    Simply defined, the word ‘climate’ denotes the weather conditions which prevail in a specific region. It has a significant impact on the lives of plants, animals and humans which can either be positive or negative.
