NextStep '20 Phase 1
Phase 1 of NextStep’20 was held on 11 th March 2020 at the Seminar Room 1, Faculty of Engineering from 5.30 p.m. onwards. The talk of the day was based on the theme “Meeting Environmental Challenges created by Urbanization through Green Practices”. The resource person of the talk was Prof. Ranjith Dissanayake, Secretary, State Ministry of Urban Development and Senior Professor in Civil Engineering, University of Peradeniya. He is also the Chairman of the Green Building Council of Sri Lanka. Although nature is the core of human existence, people are exceeding their limits of consumption and disturbance to nature through the rapid process of modernization and urbanization. It is important to keep in mind that there will be no future, without nature which will ultimately lead to the loss of all materialistic values embraced by humans.
