14th Installation Ceremony

The 14th Installation Ceremony was held on 27th October 2019 with great success. At the Appadurai Auditorium, Faculty of Agriculture.

Commencement of the ceremony was marked by lighting the traditional oil lamp by the dignitaries and invitees. Honourable Chief Guest- Professor Upul B. Dissanayake, the Vice-Chancellor of University of Peradeniya, Guest of Honour-Rtn PHF K. Wigneswaran, President of the Rotary Club of Kandy, Rtn PHF Avanthi Karunaratne- Youth Service Chair, Rtn. IPP Ranjith Gunathilake- Zonal Coordinator, Rtn PHF PP John Baskaran, Senior Treasurer of the club Dr B.M.K. Pemasiri, Rotarians, Rotaractors and interactors and all the distinguished guests graced the occasion.

Soon after Flag Salutation, Rotaract Invocation, Four Way Test and Rotaract song, co-chairperson of the project Rtr Kushala Yagoda welcomed the gathering. Then the outgoing Secretary, Rtr Chathurangi Edussuriya presented the secretary’s report of the year 2018/19. The outgoing President, Rtr Tharindu Pinnaduwage addressed the gathering and appreciated the work and effort of the outgoing Board of Directors of the year 2018/19. It was followed by the distribution of certificates to the outgoing committee.



 The beginning of another chapter of our Rotaract Club was marked by collaring Rtr. Lahiru Dissanayake as the President for the year 2019/20. The theme “Living The Dream” was officially announced and the President introduced the Board of Directors for the upcoming year. The audience was mesmerized by the performance of Rtr. Thishuri Sisara Coralage and Rtr. R.C.L. Rajapaksha from the Faculty of Engineering. After that the gathering was addressed by the Guest of Honour and the Chief Guest respectively and the incoming Board of Directors expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the dignitaries, invitees and the Outgoing Board of directors by giving them tokens of appreciation. In concluding the event, Rtr Gothami Mayanthima - the Joint Secretary for the year 2019/20 delivered the vote of thanks.

A Brief History of the Club

         The Rotaract Club of University of Peradeniya is one of the most prestigious Rotaract Clubs in the RI District 3220. The club was chartered in 2002 and after a short period of silence, sprang up to work in 2006. The Charter President of the club is Rtr. PP Pathum Mudannayake who was an undergraduate from the Faculty of Science. He and his committee have done a great deal to raise the club to higher levels in the district. Our Senior Treasurer had been Dr Shamala Kumar all along. She is one of the main reasons the club stands proud inside the university arena. The 10th Installation Ceremony

The 10 th Installation Ceremony  of the  Rotaract Club of University of Peradeniya  was held on the 13th  of September 2015 at Royal Mall, Kandy. The occasion was graced by the presence of Rtn. Vinoth Kumar as the Chief Guest , Dr Shamala Kumar as the Guest of honor ,  DRR Rtr PP Sathiyeandra Tharmakulerajasingham, Rtn PHF Yalini Jeyaseelan,Youth Service Director of the Rotary club of Kandy,  other members from the Rotary Club of Kandy and members from Rotaract clubs all over the island. After completing a year of successful projects, the outgoing president Rtr. Tharindu Malinga passed over the responsibilities for the Rotaract year 2015/ 2016 to the incoming president Rtr.Chamara Yapa and his committee.
