GRANDEEZA '20 - The first-ever Awards Ceremony of RACUOP

GRANDEEZA ’20 is a virtual Awards Ceremony organized by the Rotaract Club of University of Peradeniya in appreciation of its members for their immense support, dedication, interest and commitment rendered to the club in various projects and occasions. Grandeeza ’20 being the first ever Awards Ceremony in the 15-year history of the Rotaract Club of University of Peradeniya, is not just a long-awaited dream come true, but also a remarkable milestone. The guest speaker for the event was DRR. Rtr. PP. Kavindra Kasun Sigera.

In a period of a global pandemic, this event needed careful planning of even the most trivial aspect of the Awarding Ceremony. Having selected a committee of 16 dynamic individuals, the whole program was divided into smaller tasks and the responsibilities were shared among committee members. While all of this happened via Zoom meetings, Whatsapp groups and other online platforms, the ultimate notion of the organizing committee was however to gather at one place when bringing forth Grandeeza ’20 - The first ever Awards Ceremony in the history of the Rotaract Club of University of Peradeniya alive.

The earnest expectation of the Top Board, The Outgoing Committee and The Director Board was to wholeheartedly and entirely focus on nominating the members of the club for the awards, as they are the beating heart, the ultimate power and the strength of the club.

Grandeeza ’20 was far beyond an ordinary Awards Ceremony for it did not just showcase the immense capacity, the talent and the passion of a set of deserving individuals but it truly emblazoned the grandeur of the Rotaract Club of University of Peradeniya as a whole!

The awards ceremony was consisted of more than 25 awards which were categorized under two main sections as, Commitment Awards and Fun Awards. The first being further categorized into 3 subcategories as, Avenue wise awards, Project wise Awards and Member wise awards, each of these awards was awarded to the most deserving member/ project selected through fair and accurate filtering of Google survey answers.
