Fat to Fit '20
The award-winning project ‘Fat to Fit '20’ was
successfully held for the second consecutive year at the Animal science mini
theatre, Department of Animal Science, Faculty of Agriculture at University of
Peradeniya on 08th March 2020. Rotaractors, other undergraduates
representing several faculties and students from selected schools in Kandy
participated for this event. The event held from 8.00 a.m. to 2.00 p.m.
After identifying the challenges faced by
students our intention was to support them to balance the education and health
by extending the helping hands to overcome those barriers. This project created a
platform for school students and undergraduates to interact by sharing
their knowledge and experiences. This was a golden opportunity for them to
create a better conversation among themselves about education and health. This
project also aimed at finding possible solutions for common problems faced by the majority of students such as stress, lack of a balanced diet, obesity due to
their busy schedules.
The project was conducted under four sessions
and they were:
- Diet planning session to educate students about the importance of living a healthy lifestyle including meal planning.
- Self-defence session aiming at protection.
- Zumba session as a relaxation activity.
- Yoga sessions focusing on relaxation.
