White Cane Day Celebration

On 14th of November 2017, Rotaract Club of University of Peradeniya decided to lend a hand to the Kandy Branch of National Federation of the Visually Handicapped for their White Cane Day 2017 celebrations. The event initiated by a walk which started from D. S. Senanayake Public library to E. L. Senanayake Children’s library. The closing ceremony was graced by Hon. S. B. Dissanayake. Pera Rotaractors were thrilled to help the organizers with the arrangements of the closing ceremony as well. White Cane Day was a different and a memorable experience for us.

         The Rotaract Club of University of Peradeniya is one of the most prestigious Rotaract Clubs in the RI District 3220. The club was chartered in 2002 and after a short period of silence, sprang up to work in 2006. The Charter President of the club is Rtr. PP Pathum Mudannayake who was an undergraduate from the Faculty of Science. He and his committee have done a great deal to raise the club to higher levels in the district. The 44th U. S. President Barack Obama once said: "No challenge poses a greater threat to future generations than climate change."    Simply defined, the word ‘climate’ denotes the weather conditions which prevail in a specific region. It has a significant impact on the lives of plants, animals and humans which can either be positive or negative.
