Treasure Hunt '17

“Talent wins games, but teamwork and intelligence wins championships”
-Michael Jordan-

Treasure Hunt 2017 was a project which aimed to build fellowship among rotaractors as well as new comers to the Rotaract Club of University of Peradeniya. This was a platform for past and present rotaractors of the club to interact not only with themselves but also with the new members while sharing their knowledge and awesome Rotaract experiences.

The event was held at Peradeniya Botanical Gardens on 23rd of July 2017 from 9 am to 6 pm. Treasure Hunt’17 was chaired by Rtr. Lasni Wickramasinghe and Rtr. Induwara Chandrawansha.

Initially all the participants were grouped into several groups and they were asked to come up with a group name and introduce themselves to others. After that, all the groups were given a map of the garden and a clue to find their checkpoints. Once they successfully find the correct checkpoints, they are asked to complete a task. The tasks aim to build leadership skills, communication skills, team spirit, creativity, innovation and various other skills that are vital to be an effective leader as well as a good team player. Thus, the groups are awarded with marks at each checkpoint based on their performance.

After completing each task, the clue for the next checkpoint was given. The group who received the most marks were the winners of the event. Thus, the team ‘Scooby Doo’ was able to find ‘King Solomon’s Treasure’ as their greatest strength was their team spirit.
