From Difference to Diversity- The 12th Installation Ceremony

The 12 th Installation ceremony of Rotaract Club of University of Peradeniya was held on 10 th September, 2017 at Food Science Auditorium, Faculty of Agriculture of University of Peradeniya from 11 am onwards. The ceremony commenced by lighting the oil lamp by the dignitaries. The Chief Guest - Prof. Vajira Weerasinghe – Dean, Faculty of Medicine, University of Peradeniya, Guest of Honor - Rtn PHF PP John Baskaran, Rotaract District Representative - Rtr PP Anuradha Senanayake, Immediate Past District Rotaract Repetitive - Rtr. PP Mohamed Husni, Rotarians, Rotaractors and Interactors graced the occasion. Soon after Flag Salutation, Rotaract Invocation, Four Way Test and Rotaract song, co-chairperson of the project- Rtr. Treasure Hunt '17

“Talent wins games, but teamwork and intelligence wins championships” -Michael Jordan- Treasure Hunt 2017 was a project which aimed to build fellowship among rotaractors as well as new comers to the Rotaract Club of University of Peradeniya. This was a platform for past and present rotaractors of the club to interact not only with themselves but also with the new members while sharing their knowledge and awesome Rotaract experiences. The event was held at Peradeniya Botanical Gardens on 23 rd of July 2017 from 9 am to 6 pm. Treasure Hunt’17 was chaired by Rtr. Lasni Wickramasinghe and Rtr. Induwara Chandrawansha. Initially all the participants were grouped into several groups and they were asked to come up with a group name and introduce themselves to others. After that, all the groups were given a map of the garden and a clue to find their checkpoints. Once they successfully find the correct checkpoints, they are asked to complete a task. “The best classroom in the world is at the feet of an elderly person” -Roony- We Sri Lankan are a proud nation who value and respect the elders. However, due to various reasons, population of elders’ homes are gradually increasing. Therefore, majority of them suffer not only from physical illnesses but also from mental illnesses like depression and anxiety disorders. As human beings, we should not forget that, one day we will be where they are. As Pera rotaractors, on 8 th July, 2017 we decided to visit Udunuwara- Kalugamuwa Elders’ Home to spread love and kindness to beloved senior citizens. The 3 rd Phase of Sathkara was a kick start to our new Rotaract year. The event was chaired by Rtr. Kabilan Saynthan and Rtr. Kamalaja Athauda. First, we cleaned the environment and rearranged the furniture in order to create a better and more pleasing surrounding at the elders’ home.
