World Down Syndrome Day Celebrations

The Rotaract Club of University of Peradeniya took part in the annual World Down Syndrome Day Celebrations project, on the 21st of March, 2015 at Royal College, Colombo. The chief organizer was the Kosala Dullewa Foundation. The Rotaract Clubs of University of Sri Jayawardenapura, University of Kelaniya, University of Colombo and Sir John Kothalawala Defense University were also voluntarily involved in the collaborative effort.









This year, the event covered a free medical checkup and a variety show for the children affected by Down syndrome. It was a project which made us feel the true spirit of being Rotaractors. We could give their lives a little smile and sunshine!

         The Rotaract Club of University of Peradeniya is one of the most prestigious Rotaract Clubs in the RI District 3220. The club was chartered in 2002 and after a short period of silence, sprang up to work in 2006. The Charter President of the club is Rtr. PP Pathum Mudannayake who was an undergraduate from the Faculty of Science. He and his committee have done a great deal to raise the club to higher levels in the district. The 44th U. S. President Barack Obama once said: "No challenge poses a greater threat to future generations than climate change."    Simply defined, the word ‘climate’ denotes the weather conditions which prevail in a specific region. It has a significant impact on the lives of plants, animals and humans which can either be positive or negative.
