The 8th Installation Ceremony
Illuminated by the hues of purple, the Eighth Installation Ceremony of the Rotaract Club of the University of Peradeniya was held on the 15th of September 2013, at the Appadurai Hall of the Postgraduate Institute of Agriculture, University of Peradeniya.
The occasion was graced by the presence of Rtn. PHF. RoseMarie Grieve as the Chief Guest, District Rotaract Committee Chariperson Rtn. PP. Marshad Barry as the Guest of Honor, District Rotaract Representative Rtr. PP. Abdul Wahid, Members from the Parent Club, Rotary Club of Kandy, District Committee members and Rotaractors representing 21 clubs.
Rtr. Pubudu Wimalasiri was inducted as the 8th President of the club by Immediate Past President Rtr. PP. Pradeep De Alwis, passing on his responsibilities and signifying the end of his eventful year. Continuing the induction ceremony the board of directors consisting of Rtr. Chanaka Marasinghe and Rtr. Tharindu Malinga as Vice-Presidents, Rtr. Madushanka Bandara Abeykoon as the Secretary, Rtr. Anoji Ekanayake as the Assistant Secretary, Rtr. Prasadi Boomawalage (absent) as Editor, Rtr. Dayanga Randeniya as Sub-Editor, Rtr. Dananjaya Liyanage and Rtr. Lihini Ranesha as Joint-Directors of Community Service, Rtr. Kasun Gamage and Rtr. Tharuka Amarasooriya as Joint-Directors of Professional Development, Rtr. Fathima Afka and Rtr. Ushani Atapattu as Joint-Directors of International Understanding, Rtr. Narada Balasooriya and Rtr. Lakshika Weragoda as Joint-Directors of Club Service, Rtr. Gayan Sankalpa and Rtr. Sanura Hettiarachchi as Joint-Directors of IT, Rtr. Sanath Subasinghe and Rtr. Nilan Rupasinghe as Joint-Directors of Finance, Rtr. Chanaka Weerasena and Rtr. Harshana Prabath as Joint-Directors of Membership Development and Rtr. Sithira Rajapakshe as Sergeant-at-Arms were inducted.
Following the induction the theme for the year 2013/2014 "Dream. Believe. Achieve" was launched, with the hope of realizing the dreams of many, to create a sense of belief and faith that they can be achieved, fueled by our skills and efforts as undergraduates and rotaractors.
We eagerly await the beginning of an eventful and fun-filled year ahead by extending a helping hand for anyone to "be a dreamer, repel the unbeliever and strive for achievement".
