The World Down Syndrome Day 2013
The Rotaract district 3220 & the
Kosala Dullewa Foundation organized the World Down Syndrome Day 2013. It was
held on the 24th of March 2013 at Royal College, Colombo 07.
The annual observance of World Down Syndrome Day (WDSD) aims to promote awareness and understanding of Down syndrome and related issues, and to mobilize support and recognition of the dignity, rights and well-being of persons living with Down syndrome. The event was co-hosted by the Rotaract Club of University of Peradeniya, Rotaract Club of University of Colombo Faculty of Arts, Rotaract Club of University of Colombo Faculty of Law, Rotaract Club of University of Colombo Faculty of Management and Finance, Rotaract Club of University of Colombo Faculty of Science, Rotaract Club of University of Kelaniya, Rotaract Club of University of Moratuwa, and Rotaract Club of University of Sri Jayewardenepura.

The commemoration was a full day
event consisted of four different projects; an awareness walk, a health camp, a
variety show and an art exhibition. The event was enriched with a huge
participation. Our rotaract club was able to join hands with the project with a
participation of about 40 rotaractors. The event was successful and a lot of
participants got to know of the world of Down Syndrome. We, the rotaractors of
the University of Peradeniya were able to support the event with heartfelt
dedication.
