Project NOSTALGIA was successfully held on 31 st May 2020 as an online session via the Zoom application. This was organized in line with the celebration of 50 years of Rotaract in Sri Lanka and the main aim was to bring back the memories of our club, creating an interactive platform with several past presidents and past executive committee members with the present Rotaractors. The Rotaract Club of University of Peradeniya has been active for 15 consecutive years and this was taken into account as a day to celebrate the successful journey of the club. The history of our club, starting from the chartering procedure and the steps followed, memories, visions, and difficulties faced by the past Rotaractors were discussed while giving insight as to what made the club to reach heights from the very beginning. NOX CAELO - The Wonders of the Sky

  'NOX CAELO' was a project done by the Rotaract club of University of Peradeniya in collaboration with the Foundation of Astronomical Studies and Explorations in order to develop the bond between members and strengthen their enthusiasm on night sky observation. It was held on the 27th of May, 2020 and it is one of the projects selected from the mini project season organized by our club. At the beginning, “NOX CAELO” was planned to be conducted as an outdoor night sky observation camp but unfortunately, due to the pandemic situation of the world, it was limited to an online talk and a discussion on “The wonders of the night sky” . Mr. Tharindu Rajasooriya, B.Sc. Hons. Physics Special (UOP), PhD Reading (Emory University) delivered the guest speech and conducted the discussion session based on the questions arose from the audience. Rise Up Sri Lanka

‘Rise Up Sri Lanka’ is an awareness program initiated by the Rotaract Club of University of Peradeniya during the Covid-19 outbreak. Committee members from ten different projects came up with their creative ideas to raise awareness among the general public.   Their messages include how we can protect our motherland and how individuals can do their part to save a whole community from getting infected by the pandemic.   The project committees shared their inspiring messages on social media platforms as they could influence more and more people to join hand in hand for this great course. Treasure Hunt '20

Treasure Hunt ’ 20 was one of the most tremendous projects annually organized by Rotaract Club of University of Peradeniya. It was held on the 18 th of April from 9.00 am to 4.00 pm . The main objective of this project was t o provide an opportunity for new members to enhance the knowledge and skills that will assist them in personal development, to buildup relationship s between current members, new members , and past Rotaractors through a framework of friendship . This was held as a virtual event via WhatsApp as the main platform which consisted of two main sessions including interactive sessions to communicate with each other, creative teamwork with different set s of tasks , and fun-filled items to enhance the fellowship among the new members and current members. Rotaract Ape Awurudu

The COVID-19 outbreak has put a halt to all the new year celebrations and beauty of the new year seasons. In the previous years, month April was always adorned with festivity filled with new hopes, renewal of relationships, mouth-watering sweets, games, and events. How could we ever forget the bliss the new year brought to us? Members of the Rotaract Club of University of Peradeniya and past Rotaractors got together on 15 th April to celebrate this special event via an online platform. The initiative project ‘Rotaract Ape Awurudu’ was held with the presence of many past and current Rotaractors and ended up in a high note with several games and fun events.  Online Awurudu Kumara and Kumariya were selected based on an online voting system while the Awurudu selfie, counting the seeds of papaya, tug of war, putting eye for the elephant, and many other fun events were held online using social media platforms such as Facebook and WhatsApp. Best folk song singer, best laugh, b...

Let's Support the Daily Wagers

With the prevailing curfew in the country majority of the people affected are daily wagers and they have to undergo several issues during this period. To facilitate the people affected by the current situation in the country, Rotaract Club of University of Peradeniya joined with the Art of Living Foundation, Explorers Club of University of Peradeniya, and AIESEC in Kandy in the project “Let’s Support the Daily Wagers”. Under this, a hundred families residing in Galaha and Deltota areas were chosen and essential dry rations and goods were donated with the support of Government officials in those areas. Most of the people affected in this area were working in the estate sector as well as other daily chores. Helping those in need who were even unable to have one meal per day during this time was a great task and the contribution of donators and well-wishers made this project a success.

Quarantine and Chill

Project ‘Quarantine and Chill’ was organized to raise the spirit of the Rotaractors and Interactors during the invasion of COVID-19 pandemic in collaboration with 13 other Rotaract and Interact clubs.  The event was about creativity and was directed under 3 categories. Poetry and Art were under the theme of Peace of Harmony while Memes were under the theme of Lifestyle of Rotaractors/Interactors during “work from home” and how they miss Rotaract/ Interact moments. The submissions were allowed from 22 nd  March to 31 st  March 2020 via a google drive link and the winners from each category were announced through social media. Click here for more information
