Quarantine and Chill

Project ‘Quarantine and Chill’ was organized to raise the spirit of the Rotaractors and Interactors during the invasion of COVID-19 pandemic in collaboration with 13 other Rotaract and Interact clubs.  The event was about creativity and was directed under 3 categories. Poetry and Art were under the theme of Peace of Harmony while Memes were under the theme of Lifestyle of Rotaractors/Interactors during “work from home” and how they miss Rotaract/ Interact moments. The submissions were allowed from 22 nd  March to 31 st  March 2020 via a google drive link and the winners from each category were announced through social media. Click here for more information 

NextStep '20 Phase 1

Phase 1 of NextStep’20 was held on 11 th March 2020 at the Seminar Room 1, Faculty of Engineering from 5.30 p.m. onwards. The talk of the day was based on the theme “Meeting Environmental Challenges created by Urbanization through Green Practices”. The resource person of the talk was Prof. Ranjith Dissanayake, Secretary, State Ministry of Urban Development and Senior Professor in Civil Engineering, University of Peradeniya. He is also the Chairman of the Green Building Council of Sri Lanka. Although nature is the core of human existence, people are exceeding their limits of consumption and disturbance to nature through the rapid process of modernization and urbanization.    It is important to keep in mind that there will be no future, without nature which will ultimately lead to the loss of all materialistic values embraced by humans. Fat to Fit '20

The award-winning project ‘Fat to Fit '20’ was successfully held for the second consecutive year at the Animal science mini theatre, Department of Animal Science, Faculty of Agriculture at University of Peradeniya on 08 th March 2020. Rotaractors, other undergraduates representing several faculties and students from selected schools in Kandy participated for this event. The event held from 8.00 a.m. to 2.00 p.m.   After identifying the challenges faced by students our intention was to support them to balance the education and health by extending the helping hands to overcome those barriers. This project created a platform for school students and undergraduates to interact by sharing their knowledge and experiences. This was a golden opportunity for them to create a better conversation among themselves about education and health.
