NextStep 360

Image
NextStep is one of the signature projects of the club. Since its initiation in 2006, NextStep has been concluded successfully many times under the guidance of several past presidents. Due to its 15-year long history and the accomplishments as one of the biggest Professional Development Conferences in Kandy, the name “NextStep” itself has its own reputation now. NextStep360 ₒ was an attempt to bridge the gap between career and passion in the hope of providing the undergraduates with the necessary knowledge required to make the right decisions regarding their life. Up to now, the main area of focus of this project has been to prepare the youth for a career after graduation. But it has come to our realisation that, not everyone is seeking a job. While most of us want to become successful workers in the private/public sector, some of us want to pursue higher studies and others want to become entrepreneurs. Therefore, we decided to change the general format of the project and rebrand NextS

In a search for a timely topic with regards to the particular SDG, we came up with a plan to excavate the importance of organic and inorganic fertilizer for sustainable agriculture in Sri Lanka. Mini Project Mania '21

Image
Mini project Mania is an annual competition organized to enhance the imaginative capacities of individuals or, as the caption goes, “to sparkle creative minds”. Here the newbies of RACOUP are provided with an opportunity to present their project ideas in which top 10 individuals with the best ideas will be provided with an opportunity to execute them. Some of the most notable ideas from past years’ competition winners magnified into massive projects are Captures, Fat to Fit and BITL (First Aid Awareness Project). Usually, the fledglings of any club are very quiet and less interactive, more socially awkward, and less prone to come forth and share their ideas. Hence, this is a project that is mainly targeted towards the fledglings of RACOUP for them to get rid of their social anxiety, become more sociable, and allow their wings of creativity to soar.  This project allowed the newbies to make new friends among their batches & faculties. ‘Senehase Dahana’ was a novel project organized by the Rotaract Club of University of Peradeniya and Rotaract club of University Alumni. It was originally planned to be held as a spend-the-day program at the Jayawikrama children’s home in Kandy. The Jayawikrama children’s home provides protection for 25 young girls in the age of 6 to 20. The organizing committee decided to choose this place as their venue out of over 10 suggestions, becasue it was situated slightly separated from the urban area and was most likely to receive less donations. The initial plan was to visit the orphanage with a group of members from both clubs, to spend a day while doing joyful activities with the children, and to offer them a delicious meal. The organizing committee was informed by the matron of the orphanage regarding their desired donations. Though a group of 20 people were permitted to participate in the final event and the playdate, the plans were cancelled as the pandemic situation became critica
